A long time ago in the summer Keith told me he thought highly of _Chuck and Larry_ and I scoffed it off, sure I'd never see it. But winter break boredom, coupled with a few choice top ten lists, pushed me to watch the flick. Really? Not bad. Not terribly funny, but not the hate-fest I feared, or that Aaron sees. For the record: I, too, wanna manhandle Biel's booty and boobies. If there's anything to hate Sandler for, it's getting a lot of (hmn, how to put it?) "high end tail" (?) in his movies. (And award shows: remember when he asked at the MTV movie award show to grab Winona's boobs to make sure they're real? How does this guy get away with it?)

Also: yes, _PDL_ is amazing.

And I want to hear all about "gay Werner Herzog."

Sounds like my Spring Break trip shall be a fun one. Too bad there won't be any _Blood_ screenings. I'm sure something else will pop up, though.

Did the conversation go on to discuss the role of the film critic? Because it certainly sounded like it was going there close towards the end. Because you have one person who seems to approach the film critic's role as one of reportage - "I interact with the film and give my honest response."

The other point of view seemed to be one of the film critic as a cultural arbiter. Forget a personal reactions, film critics are supposed to protect the world against dangerous films.

I do have to admit that I find it hilarious that something like "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry" is considered a film full of dangerous ideas.

I'm a fiend for mojitos. :-)

Well, I certainly come off better than I remember coming off that night, but where's "Gay Werner Herzog"? Or are you saving that for another podcast, Karina-my-sweet. :-)

One more smiley face for the road. :-)
