Thanks Karina. Showing my Sundance ignorance, I guess. Anyhow, crossing my fingers that Momma's Man will be at SXSW...

Anywhere USA is a layered film that explores our hypocrisy (actually it’s an auto biography so it explores the director’s) and it is intentionally vulgar, sometimes. The film has been praised by many, including Elvis Mitchell http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elvis_Mitchell who attended Saturday morning. Joe and Ronnie obviously missed the meaning of this film and did not take the time to explore its many layers. Many critics came back a for a second screening. This is not a simple film.

James, Momma's Man was in the Spectrum section, which is non-competitive. I saw The Recruiter but wasn't moved to say much about it; I'll include it in a round-up of films that I saw but don't have the time/inclination to fully review, on the blog tomorrow.

Momma's Man didn't win anything? I've been hearing nothing but great things about it. And what happened to Edet Belzberg's doc The Recruiter (or is it called An American Soldier)? I haven't heard a thing about whether it's good or bad.
