We always assumed Diablo Cody would become a punchline about five minutes after she wins an Oscar, but thanks to SuperDeluxe, it looks like we don’t have to wait that long! New York comedy troupe Olde English (they did that rap video about shooting on the streets of New York) and Jackie Clarke (co-star of the infamous Welcome to Our House videos) team up to take on the unimpeachable symbol of the Juno backlash. Too little too late to stop the inevitable Best Original Screenplay win? Probably. But whatever––the Jason Reitman characterization alone is priceless.
It’s seriously unfunny. Can the actors be anymore hammy?
Jackie is absolutely hysterical in the UCB troupe Death By Roo Roo- I’m so glad you guys included this clip!
Seriously. Is this supposed to actually be this shitty?
Lying in wait for a new screenwriter to fail. Idiotic attitude to take.

Hey, look there’s Ellen Page talking to Diablo Cody. Not the elfin figurine conjured by the news media, but a real live young actress named Ellen Page, chatting with another actual person who goes by the name of Diablo Cody, not just a piñata on the Web. Jealous much?
it doesn’t make you an elitist just to hate every movie that gets popular. i saw it before it came out in theaters and no one expected it to catch on. afterwards i remember thinking how sad it was going to be that a good movie like that would never be accepted by a wide audience, but it was. so i didn’t change my opinion just to be different. i still think it’s a good movie, a hell of a lot better than the Bucket List or any of that other shit it was competing with.
Aww cmon, this is a really unfunny silly thing. I don’t get it. It’s actually quite amazing for me as a Brit how we get ABSOLUTELY NO coverage, exposure or discussion of independent cinema, and not only do you guys over the river get major attention of it, you even have enough of it to provoke a backlash and (bad bad bad) parodies. I’d take even one straight interview with Diablo Cody in the UK and be delighted.
charlie, i think the idea here is that Juno is not actually independent cinema. in no definition of the word other than that it contains new slang words. real independent cinema is not advertised on tv and costs less than millions and millions and millions of dollars to produce. because. it’s. made.
independently. i have nothing to say about the clip, i havent even watched it…just to let you in on where the backlash is coming from.
oh god, I totally get that, and indeed agree with it. Thing is, that debate isn’t even TOUCHED over here. There’s no frontlash, let alone backlash.
