The movie really hit me and it took several hours for me to settle after seeing it. So, I think that probably people who are not into the movie industry will probably take it to be real as long as it is marketed as a documentary. The actors are clearly representing themselves in a play or something, but he edited this to make it look like it happened fast and i think he changed the order too, so it's a little tricky. Then I caught on that it wasn't real, and made me super interested to see it. Faux-Documentary is such a hard thing to try and pull off.
