Just saw the film and was only half-intending to ( synopsis sounded like a warning: Dangerously high levels of estrogen )--until I caught sight of Jeannine Kaspar whose compelling sadness and vulnerability focused this ordinary story-line like a magnet. There was not a wasted frame as she reminded us thru her encounters--but even more so thru the emotions playing across her face--of the struggles survivors must go through, just to make it one more day. The dynamic with her loving/strangling sister ( Sayra Playar ) gave us a peek at how Sam got to that point. But the core of this film is the sense that Sam is so fragile--so buffeted by unforgiving exigencies and her struggle to put life back together--that the threat to overwhelm her feels like we've been looking at elemental life under a microscope's lens or even a faun in a rifle's scope--the next frame--the next encounter may be the one that takes her down. I feel as if I've seen the emergence of a great actress..Jeannine Kaspar--it's a name we should be hearing a great deal in the future.
