Benh Zeitlin, the director of the much-beloved SXSW epic short Glory at Sea, is currently recuperating in upstate New York from the car accident that sidelined him on the way to his SXSW premiere. Although he was able to make it to the final screening of his film, Zeitlin was in the hospital for the rest of the festival and otherwise missed the SXSW experience entirely. So Rooftop Films (who co-funded Glory) have asked SXSW filmmakers who have the means to send Zeitlin a copy of their film on DVD. I know one or two SXSW filmmakers read this blog; please go to the Rooftop Films blog for more info.
First and most important, I hope that Benh is fully recovered from his accident.
Next, I am up at Sundance ‘09 and was at a Sundance brunch. Glory at Sea came up and was described as brilliant and tragic and haunting. I would love to see a copy of it. Where is it available?
Marcy,
GLORY AT SEA is worth every effort to watch. You can actually see it in the YouTube Screening Room, and it’s on the most recent Wholphin 7 DVD with a bunch of other great shorts. If you’re tenacious, you may be able to track down the Wholphin editors here in Park City and wrangle a copy from them.
Great - i’m going to watch it on YouTube. I’m leaving Sundance in the morning and have back to back movies and events so i won’t get to the editors except by serendipity.
Thanks for the info.
Hi I really liked the short film Glory at Sea. I am looking to send a 3 minute clip of myself acting in horror. Would you recommend where I could send this to? Does Mr. Zeitlin look at 3 min. demos? I pray for his speedy recovery.
Thank you,
Nadia Shaba
