I recently saw the movie (it's just been released in France) and thoroughly enjoyed it. One issue with the review is your self-assured claim that Carole is a 'shiksa'. Her surname, Weissman, is revealed to us in the film, printed on her headstone. I'm not claiming that this is definitive evidence of a Jewish heritage, but 'Weissman' is certainly a common Jewish surname. The name is one of many surnames adopted by Jews in Germany in the 18th - 19th centuries to facilitate integration into German society.
