First of all, the effect in the Gap ad (which premiered a year before The Matrix, re-popularizing khakis and contributing to the short reign of swing music in the spring of 1998) and in Wing Commander is a completely different and much simpler effect than the one used in The Matrix. That particular effect was popularized in the Rolling Stones' video for their cover of Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone". The video made its debut in 1996 on MadTV. Also, you not only seem to misunderstand the meaning of the word "spoof", but you completely missed the first movie to ACTUALLY spoof those sequences from The Matrix. That movie was Deuce Bigelow: Male Gigolo. That you didn't bother to do even a basic fact-check before you posted this ridiculous article speaks volumes about your work ethic and your integrity. Kinda spoiled it for me since it had already been done a few times in commercials before the Matrix came out. It's a neat effect though and perfected in the Matrix - that's for sure.
