Sorry, but the Dark Knight compared to Batman Begins...sucked. Really bad. Batman Begins is the best comic book movie ever. The producer director needs to constantly remind themselves that Batman is human. That is what makes him the greatest hero. Now Catwoman...a real catwoman. A naturally built feminine leotard catwoman could save the series.

To Darryl, you must have seen a completely different movie then 20,000,000 other people in the world. As we all know heath ledger won the award for best actor, and as far as I'm concerned he out did every big screen performance in the past decade! Also, as no super hero movie ever went up in the academies and the dark knight did, i believe that speaks for itself. So to conclude all of this, I believe some people are just down right ignorant and prefer to insult every aspect of little things to make themselves feel better in some way. Good day!

So, you're obviously not a fan of Batman himself, if you think that Batman ends with the Joker. The Joker, while being probably the best villain, is not the only good villain. I'd prefer to see another Batman movie where Batman is the main character like in Batman Begins, which I loved! In the Dark Knight, Batman takes second fiddle to the Joker and Harvey Dent, which thoroughly disappointed me and caused me to consider TDK my second least favourite Batmovie after B & R. Oh, what a shame it was....

It's Kind of funny how all through the years of Batman lore that the jokers main goal is to create chaos and off The Dark kngiht, and in a way he might have finally done so. I agree that The Dark Knight was a great Comic book movie if not the best thus far. It would be very hard to follow it up with any kind of villian, may it be The Riddler, Penguin, Catwoman or any other of the Batman rogues. ALAS im a Batman fan to the bone. and hope they do make another one.

PS Victor Zsasz i think was used kinda sparingly in past film Batman Begins. It would be great to see the gritty nature of this psycho and (in my opinion) most real ife like killer in the Rogues Gallery. Am i alone on that?

Harley Quinn could easily fit into the next movie, and she could be just as creepy. I think she would work better than the Riddler.

Too campy? That's the problem with unfamiliar reportes putting their opinions out there.

The Ventriloqust has only been considered "campy" in recent years. To see the extension of the possibilities with the character, one must see the "Batman: The Animated Series" episode "Read My Lips" and then talk. Certainly, the villain would be easier for Burton to use, but In Nolan's universe, Wesker would make a perfect insane mobster trying to follow the Joker's lead.

And anybody that thinks that the Penguin couldn't be used in this version of the Batman Universe, just proves his lack of knowledge by stating so. Lame people exist in real life. The Penguin is one of those insecure creeps that are not funny when they try and funny when they don't. He's petty, obsessive, neurotic, theatrical, egocentric, spiteful. He's very similar to Eric Cartman. He can manipulate crowds, frustrate the good gouys by doing so, and then do something impulsive and stupid and loose all their power in a heartbeat, after which they'll just act more impulsive. The Penguin's physical appearance and wardrobe can be as exaggerated as Meredith or DeVito's or as simple and subtle as just a Nixon-looking fat short guy with somewhat of a large nose, dressed in a suit or a formal smoking or tuxedo (easy to pull if you own and manage a club). P. S. Hoffman could do a great Penguin, but lets hope he does the real version and not the timid and cold one created in the 90s. Watch a real penguin, they look elegant, but they are loud, cranky and ridiculous.

Now, how washed the Riddler, the Scarecrow or the Mad Hatter are in comparison with the Joker is up to the actor. Gorshin didn't have any problem outshining Romero, to the point of making an obscure villain incredibly popular until the 80s. I've seen Johnny Depp in movies, have you? I don't think they'll have any troble there.

As a matter of fact, Batman couldn't be less cornered in terms of villain options. People keep talking Riddler, Penguin, Black Mask and Catwoman, but that's actually not the way to go after the Joker, you wouln't want to get cerry flavored Joker right away. I think the perfect villains at this point are the Machiavellian politician Rupert Thorne and star pschologist / mad scientist Hugo Strange, with some (Palpatine-like) working of the Penguin (perhaps Rupe's dirty collaborator) and perhaps other villains. At this point I think that only politics and psychology could have a serious shot at breaking Nolan's now outlawed Batman.

I completely agree. Joker is the best villiian for batman. They are both the complete opposite, which joins them together. I do agree that some of those other character are too wacky. But they could bring joker back for a 4th batman movie if at the end of the 3rd shows joker and harley breaking out. Plus if Nolan directs Batman(3) then the movie could very well be another great batman film.

If you have any questions about batman at all please email me at TalonTrent8@gmail.com. thanks

Ok just wanted to add my 2 cents........ First off, yes Heath was an awesome "Joker".......but he wasn't the first and I'm sorry to say he's not the last. There is atleast one actor that I think could take over as far as build and look....... Leo?? Think about it though? If he could be physotic enough is another. As far as "Two Face" who says he actually was dead? He survived the explosion but couldn't survive a 20-30 foot fall?? Also ....... Depp as the "Riddler"????? Don't get me wrong he's awesome as Captian Jack but "The Riddler"? I don't think he could play him dark enough...........personally......maybe Denis Leary as the "Riddler"? He can be dark enough.......... just a thought. And if they would let Tim Burton do anything with the third one it would be a mistake!!!!!!! If Nolan doesn't sign on for the third then get Speilberg!! Not Burton!!!

I fell that the third batman movie will be good just becuz of the fact they will add in the Riddler plated by Johnny Depp and I feel that people need to think that Batman isn't just about the Joker. I knw the third Batman will be godd espeacially under Tim Burtons direction

I know this is an olllllllld blog and all, came across it when looking for info on a new Batman film.

Anyway, my personal feeling is that Nolan shouldn't have killed off Harvey Dent/Two Face. I think that the character adds something being one of Batmans more tragic villains.

i think it would be cool to see Two Face again in the 3th part...but like many people think(not all) i must say, the joker that we saw in the dark knigth died with heath ledger and it would be a mistake to put an other actor in that roll.

The Riddler would be a good choice for the next movie. Though his motivation could never be as disturbing as the Joker's ("watch the world burn"= terrifying), he definitely could match the Joker's ruthless theatrics and criminal genius. He could also easily be adapted to fit the realistic tone of the films.
But I also really like the idea of bringing in some unexpected villains such as Holiday, Zsasz or Black Mask. Zsasz particularly could reintroduce the problem left unsolved at the end of Batman Begins... where did all the homicidal maniacs from Arkham go?
At the same time, I'd really like to see Catwoman. She's fit in well with where the plot left off at the end of The Dark Knight (she is a talented burglar after all, and the mob lost a ton of money due to the Joker's little bonfire). And her black clad, whip wielding silhouette would complement the films' gothic style. I don't think she should be the main villain by any means, but she does bring some interesting complexities into the mix. As we've seen with Rachel, Bruce has a tendency to obsess over the women he's attracted to. What would it mean if he were to obsess over a villain, a person's whose actions run directly contrary to his own honorable convictions? His struggle with this attraction would certainly bring out the darkness and moral ambiguity in Bruce's personality, not to mention emphasize how human nature makes total incorruptibility impossible for Batman. In many ways, Catwoman could cause more trouble than the Joker in tempting Bruce to break the rules. Besides, I feel like Bruce's character wasn't explored as much as it could have been in The Dark Knight, and examining the object of a person's attraction can tell a lot about who that person is. So many possibilities... so tough...
But the important thing is to develop the main story, and the main story is the salvation or damnation of Gotham City and how Batman's role in this battle has brought out positive and negative extremes. As long as the villains fit into this plot, I don't see why the next movie won't be just as good if not better than The Dark Knight.

Overblown though I think the Nolan efforts are, he could do something quite interesting with the next film. Anarky would be quite an interesting villian, with his anti-authority message. I suppose you could always place a villian in it who was about total control in the film too, who makes Batman dance between two threats. Alternatively some villians have got slightly more adult themes to them, if you can reduce the campness:

Mad Hatter - Has got a a sinister peadophile edge. Might be a bit of a risky topic for Nolan though.

Hush - Is a marksman, and could be used for an assasanation plot.

Poison Ivy - Perhaps WAY too camp, but maybe there's an eco message there? She'd be a tough one.

I always thought the riddler was like an inside-out joker, with the color schema and everything. I mean, the Joker gets buy just by sheer luck in The Dark Knight, if you think about it chaos was the real villain in that movie, not the Joker, chaos is just embodied in the Joker.
The Riddler is a completely opposite kind of enemy, his crimes all make too much sense, and he is always totally in control. I think The Riddler would be the perfect next villain for the batman series. but i really do want to see Ras and Talia though. Talia is my favorite Batman villain, Cat-women is so boring.

This movie was a really good movie, the best batman yet. Batman is much cooler and darker than in the older versions and Joker is the best villain by far. I dont think johnny depp would make a good joker, his style of acting isnt dark enough i find. They should use an actor capable of being very dark. Someone that is perfect for the part or this franchise will fall apart. You cant give people a performance like that and then give them any less.

I kinda hope they bring in the riddler but make it alot darker, and i hope they dont bring in any of the female villains (not trying to be sexist). I dont think id watch it if it had some girls being all sexy and stuff in those tight leather outfits. Kinda hard to take a movie like THAT seariously

I have to say that without a doubt Heath Ledger made a mark and a impact as the Joker, more so than any other actor who could have if given the part. But then, we really don't know that, do we?
Think of it. What if Ledger WASN'T picked to play the part? What if someone else did? Would it have had the same impact? At this point in time it's easy to say no. But I look back at another great actor who, at the time, I thought he captured the essence of the Joker better than ANYONE could ever have played the part.....
Jack Nicholson.
At this point, a LOT of people look at what Ledger did, and in my opinion, moved by his death to say he was the GREATEST Joker and NO ONE can ever play that part like him. But then, WHAT IF the next actor who does play the part does it better?

We'll never know unless it's done.

I respect and honor the work that both Nicholson and Ledger have done, especially as the Joker, but life goes on and so must the movies.

Can't wait to see BATMAN Vs. SUPERMAN.

I hope some one reads this as i put a lot of thought into it.. by now we all know that the riddler will be in the next film.. but what will his story be how can you work him into the story and keep nolans style of movie intact.. i read somewhere that gotham hires ed nygma to investigate who the batman is but how would he change into the riddler.. what ever they do they are going to have to try to out do tdk.. i had a thought the villians would be the black mask clayface and riddler clayface being the minor villian but not as minor as scarecrow in tdk.. all three of these villians can tie together and you can even have a cameo by selina kyle.. the black mask i think would be a perfect role for eddie murphy.. i think eddie with nolans direction would be a perfect match.. comedians can play very dark characters if directed right think one hour photo and the number 23... the black masks purpose in life is to kill bruce wayne not batman so he starts by killing people close to bruce... this will only more push batman into seclusion making him more tragic and conflicted in the process...clayface could be played by anyone they can tie his origin story to the first clayface of being an actor that is playing a dark villian so starts to kill the cast he can then start to use makeup and disguises to impersonate other people in order to kill or extort whatever thus donning the name clayface... the riddler can be investigating who batman is and will actually accuse bruce wayne as being the batman.. nygma claims that bruce wayne is batman after a long and expensive investigation.. when the black mask shows up to kill bruce wayne who is being impersonated by clayface batman saves fake bruce wayne from being saved... after that the city thinks that nygma is just scamming the city out of money because he accused wayne and wayne was just saved by the batman.. nygma goes crazy a vows to prove to the city/batman that they were wrong and he is to smart to be wrong he is smarter than everyone especially the batman thus changing into the riddler.. now with black mask trying to kill wayne and riddler trying to kill batman.. this gives wayne/batman to much to handle.. they could have someone like a nightwing or older robin to help out.. this is what i was thinking...

also i was thinking that two face isnt dead and that they should reprise the role of the joker... but not in the next film.. jokers ace in the hole was harvey and still could be if gotham finds out that harvey is alive and is now a villain it will still ruin the city.. they can reintroduce the two in the fourth film along with a catwoman and harley quinn as jokers sidekick..
eckhart still being 2face but here is my take on the joker.. the time lasp between the end of tdk and the 4th film could be possibly 5-10 years making for a older thus different not two different look for the joker my pick hands down then only one that could pull this role off would be Daniel Day Lewis (there will be blood, gangs of new york) that would be perfect...

one last thing does anyone think that the sonar super computer gets moved to the batcave being that big screen batman sits in front of in the batcave...
