I've read every Batman comic known to man from YEAR ONE and A Killing Joke to The Dark Knight Returns. I've seen every cartoon, tv show, movie, serial and, believe it or not, most of the fanfilms. Whether you like the "Super Friends" Batman or the "Dark Knight" version, Batman the Movie or the Dark Knight, or a cartoonish version or a more realistic version, the answer to this debate is undeniably true. Calling Heath Ledger the "better" joker is selling Mr. Ledger short. He is not merely "a" good joker, he "is" the joker. Every single other portrayal (even nicholson and, believe or not, (for those of you that haven't seen it) Batman vs. Aliens fanfilm short, prior to The Dark Knight is without a question of absolutely no comparison whatsoever. Comparing Nicholson's Joker to Ledger's (even though Nicholson's Joker was, prior to Ledger's, phenomenal)would be tantamount to comparing Dean Cain's Superman to Christopher Reeve's. While there maybe some that may actually prefer Nicholson to Ledger, one would venture to guess that said preference is rooted far more in sentimentality than the actual performances. Ledger's untimely death has absoltuely nothing to do with how his perfemance is judged. Alive or dead, Ledger's performance was the penultimate performance of a lifetime. This is undeniable. Hell, you forget your even watching ledger. You can't even tell it's him. Ledger's performance was as good, if not better, than Hannibal Lector, Rocky in Rocky I (if you haven't seen it for awhile you shoul probably do so again, but this time, pay attention), Daniel Day Lewis as the Butcher, the Godfather, Nicholson's Johnny from the Shining, and Atticus Finch. I think it can best be summed up as follows: Ledger's Joker was as good, if not better, than Christopher Reeve's Superman. Absolutely UNTOUCHABLE.

The movie opened 8 days ago - and I have seen it 4 times already and will probably see it a few more times. I found the Joker knocked it right out of the ballpark !! I was mezmerized by his character. It's like every one else were supporting actors. Without the Joker - The Batman would have had a tough time. It was all about the Joker. Awesome !!!!!
