Try Ryan Reynolds as Loki. Have you seen his body and he can pull off mean mischievous. Who is casting this movie? They obviously haven't put a lot of thought into it. No one is going to take Keanu Reaves as a nordic person. Its so obvious what his physical heritage let alone he's Nemo dodging bullets! Brian Blessed? Isn't he in a wheel chair from playing the king of the birds from that old Flash Gordan movie? I hope they have medical because some of these actors could throw out a hip or bust a knee. Make sure they all have that safety device that calls the cops when they fall down!

For Fandral pick Cary Elwes. He can play serious like in "Kiss the Girls".
And I get sick and tired of seeing these old men actors with young girls. It's like watching an old man perv on some high school girl. Yuck. Do like the X-Men as least put everyone near the same age range.

I think Alexander Skarsgard would be an excellent choice for Thor. He has the look. His voice is educated and he could pull down the merchanise machine with his left elbow. He can really act without little effort. As for the other selections, well , they suck. What is Marvel Comics thinking. Branagh can direct but he should have done Thor as himself when he was pussyfooting around with Frankenstein. As for the other actors, look up a little movie called "Thirteen warrior" with Antonio Banderas. Those actors could pull off a band of vikings and they can act as well. I would rather see a movie that was believeable than another marvel comic remake that makes me want to throw down my comics. Also find a real scandanavian woman that can act. I do not want to hear another screwed up accent and not someone who has studied Rosetta Stone.

Branagh directing Thor = good. If you ever read the original Kirby/ Lee Tales of Asgard you know. Especially since Marvel Studios will make him ramp up the action, considering he's never done it before.
Branagh AS Thor = one of the most inane if not just wrong things I've ever heard. He IS too old to play Thor. Odin, maybe. Thor, no. They need an unknown or little known actor who can act well and resemble the part. Save the big stars for the supporting roles.
And please Marvel, spare us the ZZ Top Thor with a beard. No King Thor or Thor from the Ultimates. Just give us our good ole classic hammer weilding Thunder God.

Marvel wants to hire someone who can actually act to play Thor. Even if whoever is cast in the role isn't the right size, I'm sure they could doctor him up with some special effects to achieve the right look.

I know they were trying to avoid having 2 actors play Blake/Thor so after watching the show TrueBlood on HBO I stumbled across the Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgard. I looked him up online and saw pictures of him indicating he can totally pull of Dr. Donald Blake and on TrueBlood, he is buff and blonde for Thor! What's great about him is he's a relative unknown and it might be better for the franchise (not to mention his future in Hollywood).

After watching HBO's TrueBlood series, I think the Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgard should be cast as Thor. I've seen pictures of other roles he's played and he had short hair and glasses totally pulling off the 'doctor' look which could solve the "hiring of two actors' issue that they want to avoid.

Alright if they do not lock down Brian Blessed as Volstagg we need an underground movement for Brad Lyon from All's Faire In Love. The guy fits the perfect bill for the character, Big Chest, legs the size of a house and a voice to match. He is heavy in the part of the Football Coach in All's Faire In Love so he has the weight to pull it off. Besides, as a former world bronze medalist in wrestling and a football player the guy can carry the feel of an imposing character pretty well.

If not Volstagg, if they go with Absorbing Man there isn't a better guy to swing a wrecking ball!

(If you don't know Lyon, think Jack Black on steroids).

If you're concerned about Branagh beefing up, take another look at Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. I seem to remember he spent about half that movie stripped to the waist and looking pretty buff. Of course, how many years ago was that?
