I actually left a comment on this post a couple of hours ago acknowledging my mistake in forgetting The Girfriend Experience, but for some reason it didn't stick. I stand corrected, and will concede that in a world in which Sasha Grey exists, 3d musical versions of Cleopatra become completely plausible.

Soderbergh's "Cleo" gets a little less weird the more one thinks about it. The names involved—Pollard and Greer—parse. (Who can forget Greer's work on "Max Keeble's Big Move" and "Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector"?) (Fun fact: Greer was once afianced to Pixie/Breeder Kim Deal.) And given that one of Soderbergh's heroes is Richard Lester, it might follow that he'd want to do a rock musical.

That said (and not to pick nits, but it wouldn't be a direct jump from "Che" to "Cleo," given that "The Informant" and "Girlfriend Experience" fall between), it still sounds kinda weird.
