Sorry to say, but "Chasing Ghosts" was by far an inferior movie. This is not to say that "King of Kong" is without flaws, but "Chasing Ghosts" (1) lacks a clear narrative and (2) clearly exploits its subjects. Asking Roy Schildt to dress up as Mr. Awesome and getting Robert Mruczek to show off his erotic-art collection? The director did so to have a laugh at the subjects' expense. There is no empathy in this movie, only a faint meanness that left me feeling quite sad.

greetings to anyone who reads this. I am working on a rebuttal film to tell the whole story of both players from the past and tg of the past and the current clusterfuck of nonsense and bullshit that passes for historical reality. Both steve and bill are not heroes. playing a video game is not something worth idolizing people for. Wlater day is a con man a best a lying manipulating fraud at worst. Him and roy shildt are two of the most narcissitic people i have ever known.

most people don't know walter well enough to know his eastern worldview and how that taint's everything about him. He has lied and manipulated the situation to make himself look good. He dind't do a f'in thing till at least a year till the movie was already out. He only put that stuff up in order to smooth over stuff about what really happened.

i don't know how bill still puts up with his shit but when my movie comes out it will answer alot of questions and show that reality is alot more entertaining then fabricated shit that passes as truth.

as you can tell i am a bit passionate about this stuff. it is a lot different when it is your life.

As a geekumentary fan eagerly awaiting BOTH Chasing Ghosts and Second Skin (and Get Lamp)...I certainly hope things work out for Chasing Ghosts! I love The King of Kong, but fully realize that it's to be taken with a box of salt.

I also have to give a shout-out to the AWESOME TILT: The Battle to Save Pinball. It's an excellent film.

I'm thrilled to hear that we'll be able to watch Chasing Ghosts soon. I'm the producer of Second Skin, a fellow video game documentary, and we've been dying to see Chasing Ghosts!

Thanks for bringing this up, and I wholeheartedly agree. I pursued this film for a special screening at the Belcourt in Nashville around the time that KING OF KONG came out. At that time, there were issues with the music clearance that wouldn't allow the screening. I hope that some of that has been resolved. It really is fantastic.

In addition to his CGI movies, Peter Hirschberg has an awesome real-life arcade set up next to his house!

Don't worry, Chasing Ghosts hasn't completely disappeared. I don't know what info I can say but just know that everyone will be able to watch CG from the comfort of their own homes in just a matter of months.

I'm glad you enjoyed the film.
