I'm always wary of Oprah Winfrey's recommendations. I remember five years ago, she was hyping up the Mike Newell Film "Mona Lisa Smile" with Julia Roberts saying it's going to be an Oscar contender or something.

Instead, the film was boring with a few exceptional performances from Maggie Gyllenhaal, Marcia Gay Harden, and Juliet Stevenson. I've always suspected that her nomination for "The Great Debaters" at the Golden Globes was simply nothing more than an attempt to buy her way into the ceremonies and such. Yet, the strike managed to destroy that and the film came home empty-handed.

I'm anxious to see "Australia" because of Baz Luhrman but the fact that's he currently finishing the film right now worries me. I'm going to guys like you, Filmspotting, Roger Ebert, and other top critics for answers. When I say top critics, I don't mean Ben Lyons. That guy's a douche!
