First off Daniel Craig could act with clothes on or off and I would go to see him. In Quantum, bond was angry and grieving. He was both angry at Vesper and grieving for her loss. I would have been disappointed had he been able to push all of that aside so easily. His heart wasn't into coming up with a lot of one liners or for bearing all for the ladies(not that I would have minded that), I think Haggis took the movie where it should have gone and Daniel Craig certainly did. He was doing his job but he was also on a quest to find out about Quantum, because of Vesper. Then and only then could he move on.
As far as Daniel Craig is concerned, I think he beat even Sean Connery as James Bond. I hope he decides to play the role for at least a couple more movies. Whatever he does, he has my attention now and I intend to go see everything he does from now on clothes or no clothes.

Paul Haggis is an amazing screenwriter. He's been in the industry for over 20 years for a reason - most people (without their heads up their ass) - respect him.

I don't doubt a lot of people are targetting him because the movie industry decided to let him be the fall guy by making "Crash" beat out that "gay pride-fest"

You probably don't like the movies "In the Valley of Elah", "Flags of our Fathers", "Letters from Iwo Jima,"or "Million Dollar Baby" either.

Heh, now that I think about it, none of those movies were focused on naked men. Obviously too deep for a female-chauvanist airhead like yourself.

Well, Craig is the first Bond that really looks like secret agent. Rough, tough and ugly. This is how the secret agent should be.

To fulfill your need for Daniel Craig's naked ass all over the screen and quasi-full frontal, you be delighted to know he's so naked in the movie Flashback of a Fool. And even better, its in the first scene - so you don't have to waste your time watching the whole movie to get the point. His body is on show for probably the 1st 10 minutes - its a sex scene, softcore nonetheless but worthwhile.

Great post. I share your loathing of both Haggis and Forster, and your desire to see Craig's Bond get naked. If I see this at all, it'll be for Amalric. Meanwhile, for a look at Craig's "enormous assets," as you say, check out 2003's excellent Hanif Kureishi-scripted "The Mother."

Glenn: Oh snap!

Interesting evaluation. I haven't seen it yet but everyone keeps screaming "OPERA SCENE! OPERA SCENE!" so now I feel some small scrapple of duty to watch it.

Exactly. You put into words and expanded on the very feelings I had after seeing this film. The only seduction scene we get is Bond asking for help finding stationary? WTF??

Where's the witty banter, the sexual tension, or as you put it, the wink?

Amalric's English, as it happens, is excellent. It's a work for hire job, and he's doing it. Failed actors never really do get what professional actors are about, do they.

Yup, that’s one of the laws of both nature and film. Naked Daniel Craig trumps all.

But... Paul Haggis wrote Casino Royale also. Does the naked Craig Bond trump all? If you'd seen his ass in Quantum, could you get past the Haggis factor?
