Interesting list of movies to watch for. I would have also added to the list my two favorite films from TriBeCa this year: James Marsden's TRUCKER and Shane Meadows' SOMER TOWN. And maybe even a third: the Aussie horror film DYING BREED by Jody Dwyer.

Swell work as always, Karina. You're one of the few so-called film critics/writers/bloggers/journalists who pay attention to the whole spectrum of films, both over and under-exposed. It's great to see a year-end list that isn't just the same handful of movies regurgitated in different orders with the standard "surprise" pick lodged in for good measure.

I wonder, though, if you might have had an overall combined list -- including both officially distributed and undistributed films. My concern is that people will read your ballot and think, "Okay, here's the list of REAL movies that are worth watching" and then move to the undistributed list and think, "...and here are the notable minor leagues of film." No-budget film shouldn't be a second class citizen! It would be great to see Treeless Mountain right up there with Synechdoche, NY and simply footnote that TM has not been distributed. Just a thought...keep up the good work in any case!

Everything is Fine (Tout est parfait) is available on DVD in Canada - I rented it (in Vancouver, where it didn't have a theatrical run) based on your review, and was glad I did. I couldn't find an online retailer that sells it, but here's the distributor's page:

Right there with you on FRONTIER OF DAWN and GO GO TALES. I'd throw the astounding UNITED RED ARMY into the mix, too, along with the great PRESENT COMPANY. Hong Sang-soo is the king of this list, and his magnificent NIGHT AND DAY will sure figure among the top.

TREELESS MOUNTAIN, it should be noted, is coming to Film Forum in April. Fingers crossed for a 35 RHUMS screening at Film Comment Selects.
