The day the earth stood still is in reference to the end of the film where the e.m.p is emitted rendering the nanites and all human technology useless. So the earth stood still that day.(duh) They show everything coming to a halt. Humans are forced to get out of their cars and stop working and look around at the world they live in rather than zoom through it completely self-obsessed. I thought it was striking to think about and contemplate actually happening. I believe this was a seeded movie sent by them to communicate with us in a way we understand and will listen to. (that is also the reason for all the apocalypse and ufo shows and movies lately) The sad thing is there are people missing the message because they are all twirked up about stupid stuff. That was the point of the first film and this one. We are destroying ourselves and everything we touch. But if we don't want to change our ways then we just change the channel and distract ourselves with something else that really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things (ipod, internet, boys toys and whores, etc.). Good job humans. Thanks to you I feel as though it doesn't matter how good I am because we live in a you go, we go society and your stupidity and obsession with things that don't matter is going to get me and those I love just as dead as everyone else. Thanks a bunch. I hope your mindless indulgence and egocentricism was worth it.

I believe you're mistaken about the silicon/silicone line. The use of the "silicone" was most likely intended since the filmmakers decided to portray the aliens as biologically organized life in this film as opposed to the industrialized approach of the classic. Silicone is the organic form of the non-organic compound silicon and has many useful properties such as thermal stability, flexibility, and the ability to repel water. The use of the term was most likely intended. While agree with your observation of the Keanu dichotomy, you might want to do a little research next time before writing about things that are verifiable with just a little effort.

I believe that Hong's visitor just took a different sample from a different body at a different time - inefficient, yeah, but no less silly than anything else in the film.

Also, I'm pretty sure the kid's laptop towards the beginning had a nice LG logo on it.

Also, I'm pretty sure this movie was lame.

I LOL'd the entire read. This was a wholly inept film. So bad it's bad.

And why didn't those micro-buds eat the bridge Keanu and friends were hiding under at the near-end of the film?

The only bright spot: Jayden Smith's acting. That boy ran circles around supposed-"Oscar Winner" Jennifer Connolly.

What was Kathy Bates thinking when she took that part? Not a good look for one of the better actresses living today.
