arrgh, only found out about this movie yesterday, and now, where is it playing? yes, well-written review without spoilers, thanks.

most of us knew going in that "Moon" would be closer related to "Silent Running" than "2001" without all of the heavy-handedness, and more like a real movie.

i really wanted to see this on the big screen. i haven't been as excited to see anything since "Star Trek" (2009).

To cut a long story short. I hate everything Hollywood does. But by the one hour mark I was no longer likely to blow off this movie; It had drawn me in and had made me concerned, and I worried that it would blow it's ending with approved-of cliches. It didn't. It is a small, deliberately paced movie (slow); such a relief after big budget blockbusters that don't have an idea intheir heads.

Your review is a very nice set of observations.

They gave away the denouement in the trailer... as is Follywood's wont of late. I can't see the impact of the film being the same now. -_-

@ Chris Jay: I'd love to give Silent running some credit...if only it weren't so dumb ass with it's premise and science it mitigates any emotional feeling I have for it. Sorry...

I bet Silent Running could get a top billing if it weren't boring as hell, just kidding. Seriously though, this movie sounds awesome I'll have to find it.

Whenever an "I'm alone in space with my robot" movie comes along, everyone always mentions 2001 as the point of reference. Can Silent Running get some top-billing once in a while? That robot was cuter, plus it has Bruce Dern going certified bananas, plus it was written by Michael Cimino! I stand up in defense of crazy Bruce Dern in his underwear.

Still, I want to see "Moon."
