This film is tells the story of Burma's unfolding protests in 2007 very well. That there are still those in Burma who see a flicker of hope is truly remarkable.

I just saw the film and it's amazing. I have known about this project for years, through my colleague Jan Krogsgaard. Jan is credited as co-writer, but as far as I know, he is the one who got the film made. I worked with Jan on a project in Cambodia and then, when I traveled to Burma in 2006, he was able to provide valuable insight. It is a very repressive place and the film is so powerful because you see, right there, ordinary people bursting with emotion during the protests--this is something you NEVER see in Burma.

It takes a whole team of people to make a film like this, and the most important folks are the cameramen who are risking their lives. The last shots, of people who had taken refuge in pagodas after the tsunami were very moving because they show how dire the situation continues to be. There is no other film like it!
