Tokyo! was fantastic. "Shaking Tokyo" in particular resonated with me the most, more than any film I've seen in the last 18 months. Being a citizen of a large metropolis, it's understandable that one could be driven to self imposed isolation. Tokyo! may be a film made by 3 gaijin, but each piece lets those peering in empathize with the characters who themselves live as gaijin in a town they call home.

I found about on Amazon and have been a fan ever since.

Tokyo! was amazing. It was surreal but accessible, somehow humane. The three parts, while superficially quite different, found ways to resonate on the same levels--the alienation and otherness of big city life and massed civilization, like Kafka meets Delillo.

Amazing.
The dvd drops June 30. I preordered www.tokyothemovie.com

Hey your shit at reviewing. They are short films they don't need a deep plot, the stories were fun and mind bending. Also her coma button is on her leg and he throws grenades, not molotov cocktails dumbass. Please don't review movies no more unless you actually watch the movie.

I absolutely agree!!!!!!! Gondry's and Joon-Ho's films were breathtaking, and fantastic. I was physically angry watching the middle piece "Merde" indeed!!!!!!! I hated it and it ruined the movie going experience. I hope they release the DVD version without it!!!!!! Still worth seeing because of the other two.

Tokyo! is a good movie, some times it can be a little much but over all its pretty well put together. Greencine.com is offering a contest for SF and LA residents in case anyone wants to see a pre screening:
