I know what brings traffic to movie blogs: Megan Fox wearing as little as possible. Case in point: Movie Gab debuted some paparazzi pics of Fox on the set of Jonah Hex a few weeks ago, but she was wearing a robe, and not surprisingly I heard nothing of the photos. Today the same site presents more images, this time of Fox in an Old West Prostitute costume (i.e. corset, stockings, boots, gloves) and the internerds explode with posts. Sure, it’s also yet another slow news day in terms of stuff that excites the collective film bloggery, but I’m sure these shots would still have shown up on every movie and gossip site on a much busier day. Why? Because Megan Fox pays our bills, of course.

Not that I understand the attraction. I don’t mean to insult Fox, who is indeed an attractive woman. But I don’t get what she’s got that at least a thousand other hot young actresses don’t have. Aside from the fact that she’s sold on sex, be it through cleavage-exposing publicity photos or that recent Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen footage of her stripping, what is it about her that makes her the Clara Bow of the late 2000’s? (Confession: Bow never did “It” for me either, so maybe I’m just out of touch). Anyway, I am noticing that these new Fox photos are garnering some criticism for how skinny her corset makes her look, and I do appreciate that not everyone is positively spellbound by her.

Anyway, check out what other bloggers are saying about the images after the jump. Meanwhile, I’ll be checking out that sexier wet, tattooed back shot of Sandra Bullock that Mark Graham has posted over at Vulture.

  • “How does she breathe in that?!” asks Rob Keyes at Screen Rant. “Michael Bay would not approve (he made her gain weight for the Transformers sequel).”
  • “There’s not a lot I can say other than that waist is unbelievable,” agrees Dave at IDontLikeYouInThatWay.com. “Let her finish the movie, then get her some pizza or something.”
  • Commenting at Cinematical (where Fox-lover Erik Davis also spotlights the actress’ upcoming Esquire cover), “Dustin” adds to the criticisms:

Thats just not right! I know hollywood has a image problem, but thats just too far. I mean, its a turnoff, imho

  • Commenting at Bloody-Disgusting.com, “djblack1313″ responds to the waist issue (which other commenters addressed) more positively:

i’ll say it again, she would make THE perfect WONDER WOMAN. look at her waist line….TINY. just like the still beautiful Linda Carter’s was. she needs to play WW in the movie version.

  • Commenting at TMZ, where there’s plenty of discussion of the tiny waist, the overdone makeup, the short legs and other faults Fox apparently has in these pics, “pat” notes some other actresses who look better in a corset:

She is very pretty no doubt at all. But look at Catherine-Zeta jones dressed like that in that Zorro movie she did. She is so beautiful they don’t even compare. Or even Kate Beckinsale in that Van Helsing movie, she also has Fox beat on this one.

  • Commenting at First Showing, jman571explains that it’s not just the corset making Fox look so thin:

Unless the filmmakers wanted to be really historically accurate here it’s probably a modern-made corset, which means it doesn’t really squeeze the waist more than a few inches. The bad angle also gives the impression that it is really tight.

  • Commenting at Film School Rejects, “_Christopher_M” addresses how this is all part of the movie’s marketing:

all due respect to Mr. Brolin and his success with amazing roles over the last couple of years…but Megan Fox’s name is going to sell this movie…so I’m not surprised that we’re more interested in seeing pictures of her on set rather than Brolin in Hex makeup

  • Devin Faraci at CHUD intolerantly sums up the discussion by declaring that I — and anyone else not into these photos of Fox — am gay:

If you look at these pictures and feel nothing, no sudden rushing of blood to the nether regions or the instant desire to find as many gold coins as you can with which to buy her, you’re a homosexual. Glad we could clear that up for you.

    For Megan Fox fans :)

The big appeal of Megan Fox is that not only is she smoking hot but she also panders to the nerd audience. It’s sort of an unfair advantage, like how Kristen Bell became so (quasi)popular.

Wow. She looks like she’s going to snap in half. She is indeed very beautiful but here she looks unhealthily thin. I have to agree with the person who compared Cathrine Zeta Jones and Kate Beckinsale to this picture. Cat and Kate pulled it off much better. This is not the example I want the future’s little girls to aspire to. Let’s give them a healthier role model and stop making such a big deal out of these twigs.
