A few days after unveiling Mickey Rourke as “Whiplash” from Iron Man 2, USA Today brings us the first image from Michael Moore’s new documentary, which is still without a title. In a way, it corresponds well to the earlier photo premiere, because many people think of the liberal filmmaker as the true villain of his own movies. Others believe him to be the superhero, however, which would make Goldman Sachs the nemesis in this picture, in which Moore is once again met with police opposition, likely because he’s attempting to trespass on the financial institution’s property.
Apparently the trailer for the movie hits theaters this weekend, too, so hopefully someone will find a bootleg or copy of that somewhere on the web [update: I've embedded the Jimmy Fund-parodying teaser below]. My hope is it’s appropriately attached to The Taking of Pelham 123 due to that film’s involvement of a stock market scam. For now, though, let’s see what the film blogs are saying about this promotional photo:
As first glimpses of a film go, this isn’t the most groundbreaking. It’s not going to be up there with the first look at Optimus Prime or that Phantom Menace teaser poster. But it does show what’s in store…Yes, it’s a fat man outside a building, but sometimes that’s a fair and accurate representation of the film you’re going to see.
His new movie opens October 2nd, and though it still doesn’t have a title USA Today has the first picture of it. It’s exactly what you’d expect: a fat Yankee in a hat being tossed out of a building by security guards after annoying people and then feigning innocence.
Though it’s not really much to look at, here’s your first look at Michel Moore’s still untitled Wall Street doc…Looks like building security and or a police man are giving him flack for filming outside the building. What else is new?
…the movie remains untitled. Apparently the trailer even lacks a title as well (it says something like “Michael Moore’s New Movie Coming Soon”), similar to the first Cloverfield teaser trailer. Except his monster isn’t destroying Wall Street - it literally is Wall Street. “The movie is not going to be an economics lesson; it’s going to be more like a vampire movie.”
These days it seems like everyone wants to take a bite out of the vampire universe and suck that sucker till its bone dry. While filmmaker Michael Moore isn’t exactly moving on to the world of fiction, he tells USA Today…that his new movie takes the whole vampire mythology in a new (and topical) direction…I think he should call [it] Why Are People So F**king Greedy?
A vampire movie, huh? I wanna put a Twilight joke in here but I think I’ll pass…So.. what do you think the title to Michael Moore’s new movie should be?
How about.. The Fat Knight.. or.. The Curious Case of Greedy Douchebags
The last time I so much as mentioned Michael Moore on this site, I was greeted with a vitriolic resentment unseen since the days of The Third Reich. Do you guys hate left wing propagandists or fat people? I can’t decide. Either way, Michael Moore is going to continue making movies, and people are going to continue to talk about them, which I guess is ultimately the point.
…a faint reflection in the Goldman Sachs revolving doors betrayed the identity of the one corporate villain whose shady backroom dealings contributed to the collapse an entire free market economy, yet who still manages to walk free while the Bernie Madoffs of this world take the fall.
