I was hoping the Inception teaser trailer would keep the Christopher Nolan-obsessed fanboys puzzled and therefore occupied for a while. But someone had to go and spoil the premise of that otherwise cryptic film and now the geeks and gossip rags are back to their old favorite online game: spreading rumors about Batman 3.
British tabloid The Sun has made up a story claiming Megan Fox has “signed on” to play Catwoman, despite the fact that there’s no script to guarantee that such a role will even exist. But hey, Fox News has picked up the “news” so it must be true. Then there’s the Harry Knowles-ignited rumor about the third installment potentially being shot “FULLY” in IMAX.
Certainly speculating about big and highly anticipated movies is fun. Whether we discuss why Nolan shouldn’t even try to follow The Dark Knight or if we write a list of actresses we’d like to see cast as Catwoman, it’s important that we recognize that it’s all just wishes and wonders. And being able to tell the difference between a viable scoop and a rumor is what separates us respectable blogs from the unreputable people at British tabloids and, umm, Fox News (which, like The Sun, is owned by News Corp.).
The only silver lining is those websites that immediately nip such rumors in the butt and then proceed to make fun of the idea further through some kind of list or whatever. Especially when it’s a slow news day, such posts provide good reading.

While they were rampant at the end of 2008, amidst more credible ones such as Rachel Weisz’s possible casting, it’s been a while since we heard some off-the-wall, “wtf,” Batman 3 rumors. This latest one, therefore, almost seems like an old friend has come to visit. Of course, it joins some others of its ilk such as the “Cher as Catwoman” rumor and of course, the UK Sun’s previous pre-Christmas masterpiece, “Eddie Murphy as the Riddler and Shia LaBeouf as Robin.” Hey, in the bizarro world where these reports are even close to being truthful, it seems that Batman 3 will be a Transformers reunion.
The Sun “reports” that Megan Fox has “signed on” to play Catwoman in the next Batman movie, which means that Megan Fox will almost certainly not play Catwoman in any upcoming Batman movie. Also, today is the one-year anniversary of last summer’s made-up rumor about Cher playing Catwoman.
1. The rumor in question is about an actor cast in the next Batman film, when even presumptive director Christopher Nolan (currently shooting the Leonardo DiCaprio starrer Inception) has not signed on yet, nor struck a deal to write the script.

Zellweger’s people are still waiting for Warner Bros. executives to return a call from 2002.
Proposed tabloid headline: “Renee Zellweger’s Publicist Promised Us An Exclusive On ‘Bridget Jones 3’ If We’d Float Her Name For Catwoman! So, Zellweger Might Be Catwoman, Maybe!!! OK, We Can’t Do This. We Just Can’t. Let The Daily Mirror Be Their Filthy Little Whore This Time. We’re Going Back To Cosmetology School, This Is Getting Undignified.”
To sum things up for those of you who haven’t been following every British tabloid casting announcement, the part of Catwoman will now be played by the ensemble of Angelina Jolie, Cher, Miley Cyrus, Julie Newmar, an actual cat, a CGI cat, a lab-created, actual cat-woman, a lady who just owns a lot of cats, Eddie Murphy, and Megan Fox.
Nobody is reporting this except The Sun, so who knows if this is true or not. If it is, congratulations. 120 pages of Batman jacking off seems like it would be pretty easy to write.
This is not Michael Bay. Nolan is not all about tits and ass. This is his Batman franchise, and there is no way in hell this genius is going to put Megan Fox in it. Period. End of story. No questions asked.
I simply can not believe how many people I’ve read on the web today that actually believe this tripe.
Now, until you read it from Devin, Nick or some other outlet way, way more reputable than a British rag, make of that what you will. Chalk it up to however you like. I feel I’ve done my civic duty to disseminate info with a flatbed of salt with which to to take it.
4. The movie might not happen at all. Through all of this, I think we miss the most obvious points. There is no script, the director has not signed and there has been no official indication that a third Batman movie will happen anytime soon. Sure, it is easy to assume that Warner Bros. will want to make another film and capitalize on the heat generated from The Dark Knight, but that doesn’t mean they will be able to get Chris Nolan back on the horse. He has said time and time again that the story needs to be there. What if it is never there? And if the movie never happens, it can’t be in full IMAX then, can it? I know it’s semantics, but I like to reinforce my arguments — especially when I’m clearly right.
At this point in time, almost anything we hear about the third Batman is always a rumor, because Chris is 100% dedicated to Inception right now and they haven’t so much as even written a single line of the script yet (or so we’ve heard). But then again, if IMAX is to work with Nolan to develop a camera that is smaller, quiet, and can shoot more than 3 minutes, they might as well start working on it now. Nolan is shooting Inception as we speak and an IMAX rep told me that “Inception is definitely one of the titles that we are looking at for 2010.” I have a feeling that means he’s already shooting with IMAX as much as possible.
Rumor has it, Christopher Nolan wants to film the third “Batman” film totally in the IMAX format he toyed with in “The Dark Knight.” As good as those certain scenes looked, we hate to admit the idea of having to watch long features on that wide screen doesn’t sound too appealing.
I have to say upfront that the nature of this story is a rumor, not because I don’t have solid sources, I do… but because it could simply NOT WORK OUT. That happens sometimes. It is something that the production team are “considering” - but it is an extremely costly process, but one that I believe we would all love to see happen.

well the rumor I heard was that there is a script for B3 and they are introducing Barbara Gordon (aka Batgirl) as a Wayne Enterprises intern by day, hacker chick by night, who finds all the plans for the various bat toys and makes her own.
and they are going to have her get shot just like in the comics but instead of just ending up in a wheelchair she’s dead. cause they knew a lot of folks would love to see Megan Fox with a bullet between the eyes

Luca, get a grip. Lets not forget Barbara Gordon is 12yrs old in Nolans films. If there’s going to be a third film, the likelyhood is that reports of Dent’s death are going to see Batman outlawed, and he will then need to prove his innocence / redeem himself. It could go either of two ways in my eyes, either they are going to report Harvey Dent is dead when he is not, only to later have Two-Face break out of Arkham, or they will introduce a new villain to Gotham for Batman to face-off against and ultimately redeem himself. And even if Two-Face is still alive the odds are that they will introduce a new villain anyways, after all, the last two films have had two bad guys. And as much as I’d like to see Catwoman in the new film, she just doesn’t have the potential to be the next main bad guy, she is after all just a vigilante, thief and possible love interest - you need someone who is going to top the Joker, someone who is hell-bent on revenge and destruction… Bane perhaps? he would certainly fit in with the whole criminal underworld theme.
Simple rule of thumb:If a story appears in a British tabloid (The Sun,The Star,or any similar scraggy rag) then that story is,by definition, COMPLETE AND UTTER BOLLOCKS. It is ,quite simply, the law. Thanks for listening.

The way to figure out who the next main villain is in the third film is to first figure out the theme. I.E Batman begins. The theme of FEAR. Ra’s al Ghul taught Wayne the importance of Fear in Battle. The scarecrow used Fear gas and studied Fear. Carmine Falcone quotes “You always fear what you dont understand” In THE DARK KNIGHT> The theme of Esculation. The Joker fits perfectly. Esculation is Chaos. The good guys buy semi automatics, the bad get automatic, The good guys wear Kevlar, the bad guys get armour piercing rounds. The good guys get Batman, The bad guys get a Killer Clown….
To figure out the theme of the third film you first have to come to some conclusions. 1. Is this going to be the Final Nolan film. The answer to that is quite possibly yes. 2. What is there for the characters to achieve in this movie? Ie facing fear/ Sticking to their moral codes despite the chaos.
I truly believe the Theme of Batman 3/ Gotham/ TDK Returns will be REDEMPTION. Batman having the chance to forgive the world for making him who he is. Batman allowing himself a normal life. Gotham would achieve redemption in accepting the truth… ie Batman is a friend not an Enemy. Gordon may find redemption in at the end of the movie. Quitting GCPD and realising that now his job is done his family is more important. So which villian suits the theme REDEMPTION…. You know despite all of the… No he’s definitley dead. The script says he’s Dead, Aaron eckhart believes he’s dead. Nolan says he’s dead. The only Villian who deserves redemption (allbeit it maybe after a few more killing sorees) in NOLANS world of DC’s world. Is Harvey Dent. I’m sorry all you hardcore fans, I am one of you also. But i still truly believe that team Nolan/ Goyer could be still pulling the wool over your eyes.
Ok Second Villain/ Love interest.
There is clearly room for love interest in the film. There clearly will be, and that could all fall into the theme of redemption. Bruce allowing himself to let Rachel go and giving himself a chance to be happy with someone else. Now… I truly believe that there has only ever been one woman for Bruce Wayne. Supes has Miss Lane. Spidey Mary Jane. The Batman world has only one woman worthy of the screen. After Batman 89. Vicky Vales profile did soar a bit… But she’ll never come close. It has to be Selina. Whether “Catwoman” plays a vital/ small/ minor role in the movie. Her alter ego Selina Kyle MUST be included.

honestly i want to see kate beckinsale or jennifer connley play catwomen. they look like selina kyle, are good actresses and would be more believable then megan foxes over rated acting. if they do a love story or start catwomen off as being a villain kate and jennifer would be a perfect fit.
Matthew McConaughey would be a good fit for the riddler if they brought him in if yyou dont beleve me watch the frailty and then read hush volume 3, he looks just like the riddler
i love heath i was a fan of him being the joker from they announced him. if they ever brought the joker back i would want to see an actor like heath was. popular but not on the top of the list of who you would expect being the joker. (paul walker? Adrian Brodey? Bradley Cooper)
i heard rumors philip seymore hoffman may play the penguin and i wouldnt be mad if he ended up being the penguin but i have this feeling jeremy piven would be a better and more realistic penguin if Christopher Nolan wants to keep it realistic
finally they need to have robin be young like he is in the comics i think Cameron Bright from running scared or the kid from where the wild things are would be cool to see as robin.

if megan fox plays a role in this movie, im not watching it.. i don’t care what anyone says, she may be hot as hell but she’s not a great actor and her appearance would ruin it… but i know christopher nolan is smarter than that…
I think Megan Fox was alright in Transformers, seeing as they were more dramatic in that they were brighter, but I’ll just say what we’re all thinking: I just can’t picture Christian Bale and Megan Fox acting together in a love interest sort of way. If she didn’t overact it, she might be able to pull off Batgirl. But she just doesn’t look like Selina Kyle. I don’t know all my actors that well, so I don’t know who the best person would be to play Catwoman, but I’m sure there’s someone who could play the part. And personally I would love to see Robin in a new Batman movie.

I think The Joker must be recast for the third movie. I appreciate the loyalty that some people are showing towards Heath’s performance but saying it can’t be topped is nonsense. Daniel Day Lewis (arguably the greatest character actor ever) would do an amazing job. I reckon the story should feature The Joker being treated in Arkham Asylum by Dr. Harleen Quinzel (aka Harley Quinn), with him slowly manipulating her to become his pawn on the streets of Gotham, and with her mainly attempting to finish his intentions of killing Batman. I also think The Penguin should feature in it. Not Tim Burton’s stupid portrayal of him, more like a ruthless mob boss who has taken full advantage of Gotham while Batman has been laying low from the authorities. Possible cast: Harley Quinn - Brittany Murphy (Girl, Interrupted proves her psychotic credentials). The Penguin - Philip Seymour Hoffman (there should be no disputing this).
some guides to making a good batman movie:
1. i dont think robin should come out in this series, it sould only be THE DARK KNIGHT. it has taken two movies just to understand and develop the character of batman and to introduce a new hero would kill the series. perfect example would be from the last series, batman forever. i know it was a different director but i dont see how tim would have made it better. leave the kid out of the movie.
2. philip seymour hoffman is way better fit than kevin spacey. dont get me wrong, i think he is a good actor but he is lex and he should stay in that series. plus, philip seymour hoffman resembles the character of penguin!
3. i think the recast of joker would be bad idea. i think if anything they should cast someone to make a really breif apperance but that it! the character of joker should be done unitl the next relaunch of batman.
4. i like the idea of dent still breathing. i agree with Jonesy on this on. this is the only way i can see batman clearing his name. unfortunately that is all i agree with. i dont think bane would be a good villain for the next film. the character itself isnt all that interesting and he would not fit in the realistic theme of the movies.
5. possible villians: catwoman, the riddler, the penguin, rupert thorne, harvey bullock. any others would be hard to intepret into film (bane, mr. freeze, clayface, killer croc, solomon grundy, poison ivy, the mad hatter)
hmm…Meghan Fox. As catwoman? I dont think so, I certainly dont hope so either. Shes very young not mention the fact that I hate her as an actress anyway. No, I hope (if they do) the pick someone more expierienced and older. If they’re for sure set on making this movie, Nolan better be doing, otherwise Theres no way it can even come close to topping Begins or Dark Knight. Also, I heard that Johnny Depp was gonna play the riddler. o.O is it just me or does that worry anybody else. I mean after his whole role with “Willy Wonka”
How about Nancy Pelosi as the Catwoman. She loves hollywood and all it’s lowlifes. They could leave her mask on for most of the flick and then unmask her in the end. I don’t think even the Batman could stomach that…

Okay, Okay…if Nancy Pelosi can’t be the Catwoman, perhaps she can star in a remake of Fatal Attraction as Glenn Close’s character. Then Obama would be a shoe in for Michael Douglas’s character.

1. Christian Bale refuses to play Batman if they were to include Robin or any sidekick into the series.
2. Even though I agree with the one and only true love interest that is Selina Kyle, Catwoman just wouldn’t fit.
3. A love interest is definitely a necessity, so to connect it to Batman Begins, Talia Al Ghul would be a good one. She could be there to be after Batman, but be in love with Bruce, not knowing they are the same person of course. And I could see Kate Beckinsale for that part.
4. Riddler=Johnny Depp. I could see that, but not to be anything like the Jim Carrey version. The Riddler’s alter-ego Edward Nigma, could have been hired by the police to capture Batman, and being the super genius he is, could use that opportunity to try to take over the city as the Riddler.
5. That Redemption theme that was discussed, could somehow manage to occur just by going through the Riddler. Its possible, and it would make sense if you go through it right.
6. Maybe, in the end, there could be a Selina Kyle cameo, but unlikely….
If Megan Fox is cast as cat women I will loose all respect for Christopher Nolan and the new excellent Batman franchise- what a terrible actress.
I’m all for Riddler being in the next movie, but if they have the character without casting David Tennent, then I will be nothing short of disgusted.

this must be a Batman movie that briings a obssesive , dangerous & , detective Batman. The reason i say this is because hes battle with the Joker changed everything. Now the villains that should bring to the next movie the following; Bane & the return of Ras , but there also should include The Snake Kiing , Lady Shiva & last but not least Catwomen . She should be in the film to gave him a a challenge on a relationship base . Now the chrecter chosen for Catwomen should be not Megan Fox even though she is sexy as hell but she not right for the part. The female that played in Hancock opposite Will Smith . Charle Tousse I hope i got her name right . If she is not picked than my second choise will be a new comer. Now i must add also that there must be a new batmobil , batcave update & Bruce Wayne should be more build with extensive scarrs, But if they dont chose any of them then the best one is by fare the Black Mask.
