We’re so amazed by the stellar reviews of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (if not for Manohla Dargis, Rex Reed and Wesley Morris the top critic score on Rotten Tomatoes would be 100%), that we wondered if it’s the best-received sixth installment of a series ever. And from what we can tell, until some late-come party crashers show up to ruin things, it appears to be nearly true.
Of course, it’s not like there was much competition from past franchises. By the sixth movie most film series are cheap, tired and nearly void of remaining followers. However, there have been a few worthwhile Part 6s, enough to show us that it’s sometimes acceptable for Hollywood to keep going with a film property (even without the excuse and benefit of a popular long-running book series).

Remember how amazing Carrie Fisher looked in that metal bikini when she was chained to Jabba the Hutt in Return of the Jedi? Have you ever thought about the how she looks extra good because her body is in every conceivable way the total opposite of Jabba the Hutt’s body? That’s all I have to say about this photo.
If you’ve been watching the cable channel Spike lately, you’ve been sufficiently reminded of what a disappointment the Star Wars franchise has become. But if you haven’t caught the station’s heavily advertised run of all six movies, you may not want to watch this leaked trailer for the CGI-animated The Clone Wars, at least if you’re attempting to go on convincing yourself that Star Wars is still cool.
Actually, if you’re still a big Star Wars fan, you’ll probably love this trailer (which may still be on Gizmodo after YouTube takes it down). It features a number of your favorite characters and it may get you excited for the theatrical release of the film, which is sort of a pilot to an animated series coming to the Cartoon Network later in the year.
